Diabetic diet
- No Obvious Sugars
- No candy, cookies, donuts, sugar drinks, soda, cake
*Sugar free versions are OK in moderation*
- Non-Obvious Sugars “starches as bad as 25 candy bars = not good”
- Starches-Bread, potatoes, pasta, rice
-Use wheat/brown types and limit to 1 serving per day
- 1 fruit per day for natural sugar– fruit is overall healthy but rich in sugar so they are not good for diabetics
- Healthy Meats and Vegetables
- White breast meats like chicken, turkey, and tuna are better than dark/red meat*
- Fish you can bake. NOT fried.
- Boil, broil or bake. Fried foods are not advised.
