Diabetic diet

  1. No Obvious Sugars
  2. No candy, cookies, donuts, sugar drinks, soda, cake

*Sugar free versions are OK in moderation*

  1. Non-Obvious Sugars “starches as bad as 25 candy bars = not good”
  2. Starches-Bread, potatoes, pasta, rice

-Use wheat/brown types and limit to 1 serving per day

  1. 1 fruit per day for natural sugar– fruit is overall healthy but rich in sugar so they are not good for diabetics
  1. Healthy Meats and Vegetables
  2. White breast meats like chicken, turkey, and tuna are better than dark/red meat*
  3. Fish you can bake. NOT fried.
  4. Boil, broil or bake. Fried foods are not advised.
