Tobacco Cessation – these are all real suggestions from success prior smokers/ chewers who quit!

  1. Scissor / Container Method-put into a container the number of cigarettes or amount of chew you allow daily- each day reduce amount gradually
  1. Time Delay-honor system- if you want to smoke or chew, wait 2 min by the clock, 4 min by the clock, etc- increasing gradually- soon the urge will pass- create a list of things you like to do / to distract you- craving will pass soon
  1. “Trunk Method” — Photos of important things like family to remind you to quit- tape to your key chain to remind you to quit and put cigarettes / chew in the trunk or back of truck with the tools– if you can’t reach them, you can’t use them- have cinnamon sticks in vehicle or work station instead- see below
  1. Change routine –if a morning smoker / chewer – change routine – Change path to work if going by where you buy cigarettes;  don’t go into store to buy them – pay for gas outside;  Do NOT go to Indian reservation to stock purchase – 1 cigarette has 15 known carcinogens- you smoke one, 1 million particles of carcinogen can enter you with 1 single cigarette- no stock piling!
  1. Cinnamon Sticks — You can place these in your mouth; it feels like a cigarette but is much better for you – don’t gain weight from them as  you don’t eat them, and they don’t spoil in winter / summer – place by smoke deck / office / vehicle, etc.
  1. Lemon Juice — 3-4 Tablespoons in glass of water, 3 or 4 times a day – kills taste buds for tobacco but leaves food taste buds intact

-Chantix/Wellbutrin:
